helmdon Festival
The summer ball is now the helmdon festival!
What’s happening?
The Helmdon Festival is being held on the same date as the ball was planned for, the 11th June 2022, but starting much earlier at 13:30. The Helmdon Community Foundation will be joined by the friends of the Church, the Friends of the School, the WI, the Fat Landlord and the Reading Room events committee and the Summer Ball committee in delivering an afternoon of stalls, cakes, activities, entertainments, food, booze and music until 21:30.
The event covers the Reading Room, Fat Landlord and the Helmdon primary school field on Station Road, with tickets required to access the activities on the field, which are £7.50 each for adults. Children go free.
Throughout the day on the field there will be a bar with beer and wines courtesy of the Fat Landlord, a Pimms and prosecco stand and refreshments provided by Gallone’s ice cream van, a strawberries and cream stall, a cans and snacks stall and BBQs serving hotdogs, chicken and burgers. Howe & Co’s fish and chip van will be in the school car park between 16:00 and 18:30 and then again between 20:15 – 21:45. There will also be a sweet stall, a popcorn machine, and free squash and water for little ones.
Activities will include various stalls and games courtesy of the Friends of the School and a few of our local businesses, a complimentary bouncy castle, complimentary circus activities for kids with Kevin’s community circus , welly wanging, and live music from Scott Walters who will be performing throughout the day.
There will be Cream teas, coffee and cakes in the Reading Room along with an art demonstration by Brian Marshall at 15:00 and a raffle to win the resultant art piece. A tombola, a plant stall and others will also be set up opposite, on Church Street.
General activities on the field will close at 17:45 in preparation for the evening’s entertainment, which will be a live band playing between 19:00 and 21:30.
